Spend some time Alone!


Hey guys, I don’t know about you but I LOVE me some alone time. I usually don’t get much downtime to sit with myself and do absolutely nothing because, well, you know... work, my kiddo & life. I mean, even when I’m not at work, I'm at home and my mind is just going and going, thinking about something that needs to get done, the laundry that needs to be folded, that stupid appointment that I JUST remembered I missed, and I know needs to be rescheduled- FANTASTIC!

Although we all live busy lives, we need to make time to unwind and just let our bodies and minds relax for a bit.

There are a lot of things that I enjoy doing when I get some downtime. Here are some of my favorites:

  1. Disconnect from all social media!! It comes as no surprise that this will be my number one. I have a love/hate relationship with social media. We all get so caught up in it- scrolling and scrolling, looking at yet again another fitness model. At how perfect her makeup look. How does she buy all the latest designer styles? That one couple who is always traveling and living their best life and here we are waking up with barely enough time to get an outfit together. Teach yourself how to not require the validation of others. I get it. It’s great to get 100 likes and 50 comments just 5 minutes after you post a new pic. Hello, who doesn’t like that? After all, we spend some good time making sure the lighting was good, the background is perfect, and we take 45 pictures to get that one good pic. But how about trying to spend time alone and tuning with yourself instead? Do yourself a favor and disconnect from social media for at least an hour each day. Trust me, it will make a heck of a difference.

  2. Find yourself a hobby: Who has time to have a hobby? You o now! Make time for one, and do it for your own sanity. Blogging became my hobby. I am not the best writer, but I do like putting my thoughts out there and hoping that somehow it makes sense to you guys. Another thing I also enjoy doing is cleaning my apartment while playing some good music and just zoning out for an hour or two. There is something about having a clean place that makes me feel at peace. If you are not into cleaning or writing I’m sure you are all about wine, aren’t you? Pour yourself a glass and catch on with your favorite reality TV or that new show on Netflix.

  3. Go enjoy a meal or a movie all by yourself: Some people have a hard time doing these two. I personally don’t mind going out to eat or sitting at the bar all by myself. Actually, I really enjoy sitting there not talking to anyone and enjoying a good cocktail with my meal! It's like taking yourself on a date and not having to make conversation!

  4. Take a nap: If you are anything like me then you wake up super early and go to bed very late, for some reason. Either way, chances are you do not get much rest. Give yourself a nice warm bath and lay on your freshly washed sheets (no better feeling than that) and fall asleep. Oh and forget about setting an alarm! I love waking up when my body is ready instead of to an alarm.

Solitude allows us to recharge and be able to deal with our day to day life. Let's be real: dealing with people day in and day out can drive anyone crazy! I understand the mom guilt, but know that there is no mom guilt in wanting to give yourself some you time. I know I am not the only one. What are some of the things you enjoy doing alone?
